→水素/二酸化炭素から嫌気的酢酸生成を行うバクテリアSporomusa sp.の水素代謝を調べるため、水素ガス、水、脂肪酸の水素同位体比を分析。脂肪酸と水の水素同位体比は非常によく相関。脂肪酸の水素は水から来ている？　水と同位体平衡になった水素からも来ている？　また、脂肪酸の水素同位体比は他の生物に比べて格別低い。

→硫酸還元－水素酸化バクテリアDesulfobacterium autotrophicumの脂質生合成における水素同位体分別を調べた。Sporomusa sp.ほどではないが、光合成生物などと比べると、やはり大きな同位体分別。水素ガスは脂肪酸の水素としては入ってきていないらしい。
